Chinese People

China is a very diverse country with great variations in culture, language, customs and economic levels. The economic landscape is particularly diverse. Big cities like Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Shanghai are rich and modern. But more than half of the population, some 800 million rural people live as peasants, farming with animals to manual work or project. Many of these men and women living in extreme poverty.

The cultural landscape is very different, surprisingly, acknowledged, given the size of the country, and there are a total of 56 different ethnic groups from the Chinese government, and perhaps unexpected. Among them, the Han Chinese by far the largest group, comprising about 91.5% of the population, although in this unique race Han Chinese, there is a very different linguistic variation comparable to the Romance languages of Europe and many mutually unintelligible “dialects” Chinese spoken between them. After the Han, Zhuang, Manchu, Hui and Miao from the Top 5. Other minorities are ethnic Koreans, Tibetans, Mongols, and Uyghur. In fact, China is home to the largest Korean population outside Korea, and there are actually twice as many ethnic Mongolians in China than in Mongolia.

Some foreigners who are not familiar with Chinese customs and practices you can get some Chinese customs to be rude, rude or inappropriate. However, these behaviors usually mild. The lesson is: Do you do an open mind, if you want, you will find that people tend to warm and friendly.

Behaviors that may initially shock to be extended:

* Spit in the streets, shops, supermarkets, hotel lobbies, corridors, or even restaurants and hospitals. The traditional thinking of Chinese medicine believes that it is unhealthy to swallow phlegm.
* Caucasians find whistles that “Hello” or “Laowai” are common: lǎowài (老外) literally means “old (and respect) from the outside,” a slang term for “foreigner” is the formal term waiguoren (外国人). Tenders “laowai” omnipresent outside the cities (and even then, from time to time), these calls come from anyone of any age and can occur several times a particular day.
* Staring: Common in most countries. The general looked through sheer curiosity, original, almost never hostility. In certain situations (eg on the train), can be the person and hope that you see a chat session. Of course it is for those who do not speak Chinese, difficult.
* Noisy conversations, discussions or debates: they are very common and sometimes occur at inappropriate times and / or in inappropriate places. Fight full-fledged physical abuse are less common, but not occur. If you witness such an event, leave the area, do not mix or seek help.
* Pushing, shoving, and / or jumping queues: it occurs wherever there are often queues, particularly at stations.
* General contempt for the local and / or national laws, including “No Smoking”.

Some longtime residents say the situation is getting worse, others say the opposite. The cause is the new migrants from the countryside who are not accustomed to city life. Some stores put officers at the foot of the escalator to keep any people stop to look-see, as soon as they arise – when the escalator behind them is full to bursting. In the same business, other open gawk at the array of magical steel doors and close – and every time they open, it’s never the same people.

Overall Chinese people are kind and lovely , and because there are so many ethnic groups, they are used for different procedures. They are often used sign language and to see a quick verbal wit where you can find one. (A laugh does not necessarily mean the contempt of all the attractions.) If you have children, bring them!
