Inner Mongolia Dazhao Temple is the oldest building and the largest temple in Hohhot in Inner Mongolia. Locally, people usually refer to it as the temple of Buddha Silver (Yinfo Si) for this is that there is a silver statue of Sakyamuni rare that measures 2.5 meters high (8.2 m high).
The construction of the temple was completed in 1580 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and it is the oldest Buddhist temple in Inner Mongolia Lamaism. There was a great revival in 1640, although many of its original architectural style has been preserved.
Dazhao Temple has built its reputation on a third visit of the Dalai Lama of Tibet in 1586, when he got the statue of the Buddha devoted silver. As a result, Hohhot was a religious center for people from all over Mongolia, who came to pray at the temple. Another notable event in the long history of the temple was a visit by Emperor Kangxi of the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Dazhao temple is now a tourist attraction because of the impressive buildings, beautiful statues, frescoes, delicate musical instruments and beautiful collection of Buddhist scriptures known. From its rich religious relics perhaps the most important are the “three treasures wonderful”, is a title that silver Buddha, dragons carved on the pillars on each side of the giant golden statue and mural paintings to commemorate the visit of the Emperor.
Apart from the main hall, the existing buildings in the temple complex almost all in the style of the Han. The main room is a Tibetan Lama and the combination of the two styles of architecture of the Han. It consists of three parts. The entrance hall is a two-story house with a vacuum cleaner in the first floor (the room to sing) and Tang Jing Tang (the room to pray to Buddha) are middle and rear sections. The Buddha is in perfect condition silver for Tang, as he has for some 400 years. Prior to the magnificent and solemn room, there is a pair of lions with iron heads held high.
